Concert Review: Z100’s Jingle Ball 2014 at Madison Square Garden

On Friday night, Madison Square Garden
was sold out for the concert event of the year, Z100’s Jingle Ball
2014. Concertgoers of all ages were in attendance to witness today’s
biggest music stars on one stage.

First to take the stage was singer-songwriter Pharrell. He
kicked off his set performing the Robin Thicke hit song he produced and
is featured on “Blurred Lines.” He was then joined onstage by
singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani for her Pharrell written and produced
latest single “Spark The Fire.” He performed the Daft Punk hit he’s
featured on “Get Lucky” before inviting a few audience members onstage
to dance along during the performance of “Happy.”

American Pop Rock band OneRepublic started their set with
the hit “Secrets” before lead singer Ryan Tedder played the piano for
“Apologize” and “Good Life.” Their set closed with the hit “Counting
Stars” from the album ‘Native.’

Canadian Pop singer Shawn Mendes performed on his acoustic guitar his hits “Something Big” and “Life Of The Party.”
British Pop/R&B band Rixton also performed an acoustic
set. They started with their latest hit “Wait On Me” before closing with
“Me And My Broken Heart.”

Songwriter, record producer and DJ Calvin Harris kicked off
his set with this summer’s hit “Summer” before playing the hit “Feel So
Close.” Lights, confetti and pyro were used throughout the set. “Sweet
Nothing” from the album ’18 Months’ was played before closing his set
with his latest hit “Blame.”

Australian Pop Rock band 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage
performing the hit “Good Girls” before performing their latest single
“What I Like About You.” 5SOS got the crowd singing along to the ballad
“Amnesia” before closing with the uptempo hit “She Looks So Perfect.”
American Pop Rock band Maroon 5 started off with “One More
Night” from the album ‘Overexposed.” They continued their upbeat set by
performing “Maps” and their latest hit “Animals.”
British Pop singer-songwriter Charli XCX started with the
hit song “Boom Clap” from the soundtrack to the movie ‘The Fault in Our
Stars.’ She closed her set with her rule breaking latest single “Break
The Rules” from her upcoming album ‘Sucker.’
British singer-songwriter Rita Ora begin singing through
the shadows an acapella version of the hit “R.I.P.” She ended her set
singing and dancing along to her latest single “I Will Never Let You
Down.”

British R&B singer- songwriter Sam Smith started his
set performing “Nirvana” from his debut EP of the same name. He
continued with his latest hit single “I’m Not The Only One” before
performing the Disclosure hit he’s featured on “Latch.” He closed his
soulful set with his hit “Stay With Me.”

American singer- songwriter Nick Jonas took the stage with a gospel choir for a remixed rendition of his hit single “Jealous.”
American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor kicked off with
her latest single “Lips Are Movin” from her upcoming album titled
‘Title.’ She closed her set with summer’s dance along hit “All About
That Bass.”
British singer-songwriter Jessie J took the stage singing
and dancing to her newest single “Burnin’ Up” from her latest album
release ‘Sweet Talker.’
Pop/R&B singer and actress Ariana Grande started with
her new holiday hit “Santa Tell Me” before singing and dancing to her
hit “Problem.” She then slowed things down as she belted out the ballad
“Love Me Harder.” She closed her set getting the crowd to dance with the
club-banger hit “Break Free.”

Jessie J returned to the stage with Ariana Grande to perform this year’s mega-hit “Bang Bang.”

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea
started her set performing her latest single “Beg For It” at the top of
a set of stairs. Once at the bottom of the staircase, she was joined
onstage by singer Rita Ora for their hit “Black Widow.” She got the
crowd dancing with her debut album “The New Classic” hit “Work.” She
closed her set being joined onstage by singer Charli XCX to perform the
song of the summer “Fancy.”
American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift
started by showcasing her love for New York with her upbeat hit
“Welcome to New York.” She also performed catchy hits like “We Are Never
Ever Getting Back Together” and latest single “Blank Space.” Taylor
Swift ushered in her 25th birthday by closing the show with the capacity
crowd singing and dancing along to her carefree hit “Shake It Off.”
Z100’s Jingle Ball 2014 treated the sold out crowd to
non-stop star-studded performances. This much star power on one stage
made this incredible night, unforgettable!
