After my baby daughter got air sick I had to wash her little outfit in the bathroom of the plane. Of course there had to be turbulence right then. It was the craziest 5 minutes of my life. My husband wondered why I was laughing when I came back to the seat.

  • Fangirl Jen

I was on a flight recently that had been delayed. After we all finally got on the plane, it continued to be delayed. Well, finally the captain comes on and says that a mechanical problem is preventing the engines from starting. The woman across the aisle freaked out and ran off the plane. The plane took off a little while later with no problems, but I guess that woman was gonna be late to her destination.

I think the funniest is when the flight attendant “rapped” the safety instructions right before the flight started. I saw it on CNN, it’s on Youtube, and it’s amazing!

The most interesting thing that has happened to me on a flight was when I was sitting next to Susan Stamberg!! That was incredible since she is a hero of sorts for me!

had a kid on a direct from lv to georgia throw up every five minutes and mother screamed and started a barf party

My plane sat on the Tarmack for 5 hours. Not pretty inside that plane.

I bonded with a British woman sitting next to me during a lightning storm outside the plane. We held hands and said how nice it was to have met the other until the plane safely landed on the ground a few hours later.

  • Jennireesa

I don’t really haven’t had anything interesting/funny happen on a flight. However, I recently flew to NY with my 2-month old daughter and I was very nervous as to how she was going to “behave” on the plane. To my relief (and I suppose to those sitting next to me), she slept the whole time!

  • j

I was on a flight and had to land because the tail was on fire, scary but everything turned out fine, just a delay in getting to my desination.

On a recent flight, a mother and child seated beside me had traveled from South America and still had another long flight to go. The baby was quite fussy, and the mother was exhausted. I offered to hold the child so the mother could rest, and both mother and baby promptly fell asleep and slept for a couple of hours. What fun it was to hold a sweet sleeping baby!

I would say the funniest was when my husband had to fly polish air for his work. He said when the flight took off his seat fell back into the passenger behind him.. When the flight landed everyone on the plane was applauding that it landed. There is more to this, but I would need to write a story! Thanks. andrea mydachsund@gmail.com,courtney88

We had won a trip to Hawaii to see the Pro Bowl. Our first flight went to Chicago and from there we were to fly to Hawaii. Whoever booked our flight didn’t take into account the time change from Cleveland to Chicago. Our plane landed and we had 10 minutes to run O’Hare airport to make our connecting flight to Hawaii. It wasn’t funny then because we were afraid we’d miss out connection. I’ve never run so fast in my whole life!

The funniest thing was on our last trip to Florida. We were flying over horrid storms & things were turbulent. The pilot knew we were close to edge & timed his little 'apology speech' so he could say….We are getting close to the edge of the storm and should encounter a smooth ride right about……NOW, just as he flew over clear skies. Everyone just cracked up because it was like he was a psychic.

Well, nothing that has happened to me is interesting, I don’t believe, but a couple friends of mine did meet some people from a band on a flight once. And I know a lady that is a flight attendant and she’s met quite a few people. I guess that’s a plus of traveling the skies!

Funniest thing for myself that I experienced on a plane was my very first ever flight, anywhere. My hubby and I went to Hawaii for our 20th Anniversary. Our first time there too.

So, we’re on this flight and I had to take dramamine, I almost got sick. The couple across the aisle didn’t know how to put their seatbelt on, so I leaned over and showed them. Two sisters and a brother were arguing.

(Here’s the funny part) Then we all get a whiff of some nasty smelling air. We all thought it came from the first class section. Later my hubby fessed up to it.

  • msrodeobrat

the most interesting thing that every happened to me on a flight was i started talking to the lady sitting next to me. Somehow through our conversation where I was from came up and then who my boyfriend and his family was. Ended up that this lady and his family were really good friends. Its a small world.

  • sweetsue

Recently on a trip to Las Vegas a tiny boy who had just learned to talk said “up, up, mom” throughout the entire flight. Everybody on the plane got a big kick out of it.

We were flying to Costa Rica and on the plane were a group of their soccer players. And they were crazy. Halfway through the flight they got up and started singing and dancing in the aisles. THis was way before 9-11. So they started getting everyone involved in the meeriment and ot was a lot of fun.

  • Toby

We were on an international flight and were delayed. The stewardess kept asking the man sitting next to me to sit and close his seatbelt. He was very belligerant and kept yelling that he’s not sitting down or belting up until the plane starts moving! Things were getting heated up, and soon afterwards the stewardess was passing us in the aisle and spilled a glass of some drink all over this guy! He was wet all over his pants and part of his shirt. By now he was having apoplexy. I would have been hysterical laughing except I thought he’d sock me one.

  • lawyergirl

I once flew into Atlanta and some passengers became hysterical when they thought they had landed in a different country! I guess it isn’t too funny, but it was interesting.

  • page38

Sat in a plane on the tarmac in Houston for something like 8 hours because of storms in the area. Everything was ok until they ran out of booze. Not a pretty sight – two fights, lots of true confessions and even more tears. We finally took off, and a very hungover planeload of people made it safely to Atlanta.

  • trishden

Being stuck on the tarmack for like 8 hours because they couldn’t get the cargo doors closed. My husband had to remind me about the plane who’s doors flew open in mid flight and sucked out the last five rows of the plane with people still in their seats. I didn’t want to hear that, lets say I had a few cocktails after that to calm my nerves. Thanks for a great giveaway and I’m a follower. trishden

The most interesting thing I’ve heard about on a flight (I’ve never flown), was when a pilot didn’t realize his intercom thing was on and saw a bird and started yelling and cussing at the bird to get out of the way, while the entire plane listened on. (hehe, well I was amused by the story)

I follow and the funniest thing that ever happened was when I was flying some years ago, I was very nervous. The plane I was on stopped at another airport to pick up more people but I was riding to the next stop. The stewardess asked me if I wanted to meet the captain, and I said ” Sure” ( this was pre-9/11). I met him and he asked me my name. We then went back up in the air and encountered alot of turbulance. He came on the intercom and said out loud ” Wendy, don’t be scared..its okay!”. Everyone was looking around to se who ” Wendy” was.:)

Ok so all my flights have been boring, but my oldest daughter 34, flew down to orlando from ohio to pick up my son 12, so he could go to camp with my grandson also 12 in ohio. she arrived and within 30 minutes they were headed back to detroit, on their flight I was told there was about 60 passengers from a group who didn’t speak english, well they brought picnic baskets with lunches and was sharing it with each other, my son and daughter said they had fried chicken, potato salad, chips, chocolate cake, drinks. I guess the plane was a total kayos with them running around. My son and daughter said it was their worst flight ever but also the funniest.
I can’t understand how they were allowed to do it.

Hi! My real name is Joanna and the funniest thing that happened to me on a flight that I was on was back in Sept. 2007 I was on a 14 hour flight to Tokyo in coach class. The seats on the plane were so close together, and for 14 hours straight the man sitting next to me whom I did not know slept and snored so loud the entire time! I thought I was going to go stir crazy into the 2nd hour and I had 12 more to go! I politely asked the flight attendant if there was any chance I could change seats but the flight was totally full, no extra seats! I am telling you, it was excruciating! I will never, ever forget the misery of that flight! It’s funny when I think back at it, because I can still hear the man snoring in my mind, yikes! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.

The most exciting thing that happened on a recent flight was a woman came out of the restroom in a poof of smoke. The stewardess (who was tough as nails, but super cool) asked her if she had been smoking. The woman was WASTED and lied and said that she wasn’t. The stewardess asked her why she had matches in her hand and smelled like a pack of Marlboros. More lies. She walked back to her seat near me. They took her passport and all her information while her family/travel companions berated her and made her cry telling her she was going to jail. This is a federal offense! All the tears and apologies eventually got her out of it, but I think she may be one of those folks that get that stamp in their passports that get her some extra attention at security for the rest of her life.

That was my excitement for the day. Nothing like a little drama to break things up…

A few years ago, I took a flight to Portland, OR to see my sister. I used to work in a place where I opened a lot of boxes with a box cutter. I had accidentally left the box cutter in my purse and flew to Portland and when I got to Portland I was looking through my purse for something and realized I had brought the box cutter with me! That was scary that I made it on an airplane through security with a box cutter! I would have had a lot of explaining to do. I ended up leaving the box cutter in Portland, OR, needless to say!

The funniest thing that happened to me on a plane was actually right after I got off of one in NYC. I was starving, so I asked a airport worker where the nearest vending machine was. The man replied “Go outside, hold your hand in the air, and one will stop for you.” He thought I wanted to hail a taxi!

A few years ago, for my birthday, my sister gifted me with two first-class tickets to Los Angeles to watch the Lakers play Miami!

I was thrilled about my first trip to the West Coast and was even ‘more excited’ over the possibility of seeing famous celebrities at the Lakers game!

Well, it turned out, I didn’t even have to wait to get to Los Angeles (Hollywood) before seeing a celebrity!

I shared the flight from Dallas to Los Angeles with Roseanne Barr!

If you can believe it, Natalie Cole and George Lopez was also on the flight!

  • guettel78

A friend of mine recently was sitting right across the aisle from MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on a flight from LA to NYC. It took him the entire flight to work up the nerve to say something to her, but once he did she was incredibly gracious, humble, shy even, but the two had a brief but lively conversation before the plane landed. He didn’t want to geek out too much, so he didn’t ask for an autograph, but it still made for a really interesting story!

The funniest or craziest thing that happened to me while on a plane would have to be before boarding the plane – i was traveling with my husband and 18 month old daughter and we are all blondes with blue eyes but they pulled us from the line and had to inspect my daughers diaper because they thought we were trying to smuggle a bomb on – talk about waisted time for everyone involved!!!

The most interesting thing for me was on a flight from LAX to Charlotte, Richard Roundtree (starred in the movie “SHAFT”) was boarding the plane but his ticket had him in coach and he wanted to be in first class. While the crew was trying to get him a first class seat they asked him to have a seat. You guessed it, my seat was a window right adjacent from the boarding door. He sat next to me for about 15 minutes and he just got up and left the aircraft!

  • LorieJean

My name is Lorie (same as blog) and we were traveling with our Yorkie, Nano, to visit family in Texas at Christmastime and the flight attendent also had a Yorkie that she really missed so she took our dog in his bag up to the front to show off to the other attendents. After about 20 min. of playing with him she came back and said that he wouldn't get back in the bag for her, since I am disabled, she had to carry him & the bag back to me, much to the delight of several passengers, who all though he was adorable. Then I just put the bag on my lap, opened it and told Nano to get in, which he did, then I told him to watch his head, which he then ducked down and I zipped it up – no muss, no fuss. And we proceded onto TX. Everyone was amazed.

Nice one, going to Vegas in a few months and this would help out with airfare! Thanks! I actually saw a Cessna crash in the median of a freeway once – had to be 7 or 8 years ago now, driving a truck down i-95 near baltimore and the next thing I knew, a little plane was skipping and bouncing down the median about a quarter mile in front of me. I have to say, it was pretty surreal, like out of a movie or something.

a couple of years ago, while I was on the plane I met this lady who was ordering drinks (on the plane… the reallllllly expensive ones). she was going to meet some guy off of the internet and was super nervous to meet him so she figured she’d just continue to drink. well, after ordering drinks the entire plane ride and getting drunk as hell, she realizes that she spent all of the money she had and didn’t have anything for the cab ride to the hotel. It was kinda sad and unfortunate but how do you forget that you’re spending alllllll of your money on drinks and end up with no ride home? i found it kinda funny.

This happened to my husband back in the early 90’s. My husband was on a flight from San Diego to Washington DC on a 757 (a real long single aisle airplane) There were two very rude, rowdy and loud children (about 6 or 7 yo) in the last row across from my husband. The flight attendants and the parents weren’t able to calm the boys down so the Captain opened the cockpit door and leaned to the middle and said over the PA system. “You two kids need to settle down and buckle up so I can back this thing up.” The kids looked at him in shock, they then sat still and buckled up and were speechless the remainder of the flight. Everyone on board erupted in laughter and applause. It was a very fun and peaceful flight.

  • dvice

Dan, the most interesting thing was the person next to me was talking to me the whole time but my ears were so clogged from the flight I couldn’t hear anything he was saying, so I just nodded a lot

Flying Southwest is always a treat, since the boarding is a cattle call. The flight attendants are funny and relaxed, and you don’t even mind sitting backward, facing the rest of the plane.

I was taking the redeye from San Francisco to NY and the guy sitting next to me was of the earthy crunchy variety. I fell asleep, but then woke up to find him using me as a pillow. If that wasn’t enough, I look down at the arm rest and see that he has a small tree branch taking up the space. I nudged him awake and held up the branch and asked what the F was this? He very gently took the branch, almost like holding a baby, wrapped it up and carefully put it away in his bag. WEIRD!!!!!!!!
