I just started recycling. I have already replace dall the light bulbs in my house to energy efficient ones (that was quite the expense). I added 8 more inches of insulation to my attic and am making only 2 trips to the grocery store per month instead of every 3 days.

When trees go on sale in the fall, dirt cheap, we buy what we can and plant them on our property and also, on the state’s property behind us. We’re kind of reforesting around us as much as possible. Since we started planting on the state’s property, they stopped mowing it and let it go back to nature.

Due to the fact that I live in a university dormitory, there isn’t much I can do about electricity besides turning off any lights that aren’t being used at the time. Other ways I live green are by using re-usable shopping bags when possible, and recycling any plastic bags that my roommates acquire. I also use my Kleen Kanteen water bottle instead of plastic bottles, and recycle things from cans to old newspapers to other people’s things (hey, what can I say?)
I also have a couple of plants (into which I dump old water instead of wasting it by pouring it down the sink or something). They make our room literally a little bit greener!

I try to help put the environment as best I can by taking my lunch to work in reusable containers. I recyle at home and whenever possible. I also sign up for beach cleanup events in my city. Also turn of lights and disconnect chargers and other devices when not in use. Try to take public transportation when I can.

Thanks for the giveaway. This DVD looks very interesting. I would love to watch it.

I’ve tried to make a number of changes to my daily routine to do my part to make the world a greener place. For example, I’ve initiated a recycling program for my small apartment building by setting up bins in the entryway and taking them to the nearby center each week. I’ve made an effort to unplug non-essential devices and appliances when not in use. I’ve cut back on my water usage by taking shorter showers and running my washing machine and dishwasher on more efficient settings. And I’ve started walking and biking a lot more than I used to to cut back on my fuel usage. I hope all of these small measures add up to reduce the size of my carbon footprint!
